Driving Responsible Tech Solutions Across Africa
At Black Tech Lead, we hold a firm belief that Africa’s youth are not just ready, but are already leading the charge in innovation. The continuous emergence of groundbreaking solutions across the continent stands as irrefutable proof of this immense potential, showcasing that Africa is not just a consumer of technology, but a burgeoning hub of digital creation. However, amidst this exciting surge of ingenuity, we also recognize a critical and growing need for responsible leadership in the innovations we, as young people, aspire to drive. It’s not enough to build; we must build ethically, safely, and sustainably.
This very conviction is why our recent Community of Practice event was such a pivotal moment in our ongoing advocacy journey. It was a day designed to foster deep engagement and equip attendees with the tools for responsible innovation. Every aspect of the event, from the dynamic youth-led workshop sessions facilitated by brilliant young professionals like Favour Amourzang Fri Fon, Agatha Suzie Sieyapnji Youyou, Joy Tari-Bagshaw, Miriam Ocloo, Siisi Ansah, and Jeremy Acquaah, to the thought-provoking keynote delivered by Dr. Esi Sey, Project Director of YALI RLC West Africa Accra, was meticulously crafted. The engaging panel discussions featuring Isaac Newton Acquah, Kwame Nyatuame, Kwame Stalwart, and Joy Tari-Bagshaw further deepened the dialogue, while impactful networking sessions ensured meaningful connections were forged. The overarching aim was to unpack actionable strategies for leading innovation on the continent with responsibility, ethics, and safety at its core. We are genuinely excited about the direction our advocacy is taking, and even more thrilled that every participant departed with practical, actionable strategies and meaningful connections that hold the potential to shape their careers for years to come.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the time to attend in person, especially given the inherent challenges of participating in a deliberative session during the busy month of December. Your commitment underscored the importance of this dialogue. We will be sharing more comprehensive details about the event in our upcoming publications, but in the meantime, we’re eager to hear from you: what was the highlight of the event that resonated most deeply with you?
